People with disability to take concerns to the United Nations

A delegation of people with disability is getting ready to present to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Committee) about the progress Australia has made to make our rights real. 

The UN Committee is reviewing Australia’s progress in implementing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on 12 and 13 September 2019, and as part of this review, it will listen to the views of the delegation of people with disability.

Submission to Third Review of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards)

In December 2018, Disabled Peoples Organisations Australia (DPO Australia) provided a submission to the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities Issues Paper: Third Review of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards).

In response to the issues paper, DPO Australia conducted a survey across our membership to capture the public transport experiences of people with disability and incorporated their feedback into our submission.

National Women’s Alliances and Disabled People’s Organisations Australia Workshop

In October 2018, a workshop was held in Sydney to conduct a review of the National Women’s Alliances.

This workshop was organized by Womens With Disability Australia  and attended by key decision makers from each of the six Alliances and the four member organisations of Disabled People’s Organisations Australia (DPO Australia).

Main findings from the one-day workshop have now been compiled in the report below.
