Disability Royal Commission

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of People with Disability was an inquiry established by the Australian government to investigate and report on the experiences of people with disabilities in Australia. It delivered its final report and recommendations in September 2023.

NEDA worked with the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) staff to engage with the CALD communities across Australia. In partnership with our members and other community organisations working with the DRC, NEDA helped build a suite of factsheets, videos and digital content to assist the CALD community, particularly people with disability, to tell their stories to the inquiry or inform their own community about it.

NEDA also helped to inform the DRC of our CALD disability community by way of our own written submission, being a witness at a public hearing on open employment, and a panel member for the CALD Public Hearing. The factsheets and explanatory videos produced by NEDA can be accessed here.
