Thriving Kids

A cream-coloured tile graphic with The Thriving Kids logo on the left. It has black text that reads 'Thriving Kids'. A yellow rectangular box is underneath with black text that reads 'Learn more at health dot gov dot au forward slash thriving kids'. On the right, is a photo of 2 smiling children, a girl and a boy, with dark hair and skin. They are playing with toys in an allied health clinic.

Every child learns and grows in their own way. Some need extra support to develop, learn, and grow.

Thriving Kids is for families and their children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or who are Autistic with low to moderate support needs.

Some Thriving Kids supports are available now. More supports will become available over time.

All supports will be rolled out by 1 January 2028. The way people access the NDIS will not change until then.

National supports now available include:

• Thriving Kids Information and Resource Hub – guidance and resources to help families understand and support their child’s development.

• Thriving Kids Autism Helpline (1300 654 789, 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday) – information, advice, and resources about autism for families and healthcare professionals.

• A national phone line (1800 882 436, 7am to midnight, 7 days a week) – for expert information and general advice from maternal and child health nurses on child development and behaviour.

Families do not need a diagnosis to access Thriving Kids supports.

Thriving Kids is a joint Australian, state and territory government initiative.
